Monday, May 27th

8.00–9.00 welcoming party (breakfast + tour of the school)

9.00–10.00 lecture on the soil by Mme Marie-Cécile Affholder from the foundation Evertea : https://fondationevertea.org

10.00–10.15 break

10.15–12.00 fresco on the soil led by the teachers to check, reinvest and expand on the knowledge acquired during the lecture.

12.00–13.00 lunch time at the school canteen

13.00–13.30 reminding the scientific approach, explanations of the samples to be taken and the analyses to be carried out. Drawing up a research question on the subject of soil. (work in groups)

13.30–15.00 students will go and collect the samples around Saint Jean (+ installation of the “pots barber” ) then come back to school and begin the analyses.

 

Tuesday, May 28th

8.00–11.30 Start at school. The students will go and collect their « pots barber » then analysis of the samples.

Writing of their reports + Powerpoint presentation.

12.00 lunch time Picnic in Pont-en-Royans   (picnic provided by the host families)

14.30–16.30 visit of the Choranche Caves

Back to school at about 17.30 

Wednesday, May 29th

8.30: presentation of the Vercors massif (the mountain); its characteristics.

In the coach we will go along the route of the  “Petits et Grands Goulets” (small and large gullies) to a first stop at the Col Proncel. The first part of the tour will be dedicated to the resistance (WWII): although it is not link to our topic, you can’t come to the Vercors without having some information about this very important part of our history.

Then the coach will take the group back for a second stop at Font d’Urle. This second stop will be devoted to a nature walk on biodiversity and picnic (provided by the families).

Finally the coach takes the group back to the Col de la Bataille. This third stop will consist of a landscape reading at the “Col de la Bataille” lookout.

Back to school at about 17.00

Thursday May 30th

8:00–8.30 presentation and definition of a heat island

8.30 leaving for Grenoble

In the morning, the students will walk around Grenoble city centre to take measurements on heat islands

12.00– 15.45 lunch time and freetime in Grenoble

17:00 back to school and in the families

Friday, May 31st

8.00–12.00 Analysis of heat island samples and preparation for oral presentations.

12.00–13.00 lunch at the school canteen

13.00–15.00 oral presentation of the results
